Local youth to compete at Busch Stadium

COLUMBIA, MO (May 31, 2007) - Every year, Pepsi & Major League Baseball
conducts the Pitch, Hit & Run competition nationally for boys and girls
up to age 14. The Columbia local contest was hosted by the Parks and
Recreation Department on May 12 at Oakland Park. The winner for the 11 &
12 year old division was Mason Murray of Harrisburg scoring 917 points.

His performance at the Columbia local competition earned him the right
to move on to the sectional competition in Rolla the following week.
Mason won there as well, earning 1,013 points. This outstanding
performance allows him to compete in the St. Louis Cardinals Team
Championship on Sunday, June 10.

The competition is at 8:30 a.m. at Busch Stadium preceding the
Cardinals’ game against the Los Angeles Angels, which Mason will be
able to attend. Mason will compete against other young athletes in the
region who won sectional competitions also. If Mason’s score is one of
the top four of his age group of all MLB Team Championships (each MLB
team hosts a championship), he will qualify to compete in the All-Star
Game Pitch, Hit & Run to be held in San Francisco on July 10.
