Input sought on long-term power supply
(COLUMBIA, MO) -- “Powering Columbia’s Future” will be
held on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at 701 E. Broadway to receive
input from the public on the options being researched for Columbia’s
long-term power supply. The Power Supply Task Force is holding the
meeting to review how electric supply options and efficiency programs
will be evaluated. Input from Columbians will help the task force
formulate what options will be studied in the Integrated Resource Plan.
An Integrated Resource Plan is a comprehensive way of securing
energy for the long term. It will supply the information needed to
provide reliable, cost-effective and environmentally sensitive energy to
Columbia. Programs to reduce the demand for electricity will also be
evaluated. This public meeting is the first step in the Integrated
Resource Plan being conducted by the engineering firm Burns and
McDonnell. After the research has been completed in the first quarter of
2008, another public meeting will be held to review the draft report.
The presentation will be broadcast live on the Columbia Channel,
Mediacom channel 13 and Charter Communications channel 2. It will
rebroadcast at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Nov. 29 through Dec. 12.
Comments from Columbians about future power supply options can
be e-mailed to wlmail at GoColumbiaMo.com or sent to Water & Light
Administration, P.O. Box 6015, Columbia, Mo., 65205.
