Community Circle: ‘Letters from the Other Side’

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Columbia Human Rights Commission, in
collaboration with Centro Latino and Columbia-Boone County League of
Women Voters, presents a free public showing of the documentary
“Letters from the Other Side.” Join fellow citizens Wednesday,
Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. in the Columbia Public Library Friends Room.
“Letters from the Other Side” provides a human context for a
much-needed discussion about the complex issue of immigration. This film
centers on the daily lives and struggles of four Mexican women through
their video letters, carried across the border by the film’s director.
The Austin Chronicle review mentions the film to be “Impressively
thorough … painful and honest.”
All Community Circles are free and open to the public. Held
monthly by the Columbia Human Rights Commission, Community Circles
engage citizens in honest, respectful dialogue dealing with issues of
diversity. Contact Nanette Ward at the Human Rights Commission at (573)
874-7488 or HRC at GoColumbiaMo.com for more information. Visit us on the
Web at www.GoColumbiaMo.com (Go Word: gostudycircles).
