National Public Safety Telecommunications Week
COLUMBIA, MO (April 9, 2008) - April 13-19 is “National Public Safety
Telecommunications Week.” Public Safety Joint Communications (PSJC),
your local 911 center and public safety dispatch for Boone County, will
honor its employees throughout the week. An “operator of the year”,
“employee of the year” and “call of the year” will be
recognized. A brief ceremony will be held at the Center on April 16 at
2:30 p.m.
The event will take place in the “operations room” at the
communication center located at 17 N. 7th Street, Suite A. Professional
public safety organizations, private business and individuals are
invited and will be stopping by throughout the week to tour the
facilities, see the equipment and meet with the operators and
dispatchers on duty. Individuals interested in stopping by should do so.
Any groups or organizations that would like tours may call 874-7400 to
arrange a time.
This is a perfect opportunity to meet the people we hope you never need
to speak with, but may hold your life or those of others in their hands.
They are the first “first responders!”
