Crash may be cause of power outage
COLUMBIA, MO (April 14, 2008) - Columbia firefighters were called just
before 9 p.m. on Monday, April 14, to a report of an extrication crash
on Worley Street just east of Providence Road. Shortly after the crash,
Public Safety Joint Communications and the Columbia Water and Light
Department began receiving reports of a power outage north of Worley,
west to Garth, east to Range Line Street, and north to business Loop
70.
Firefighters arrived on the scene of the crash to find a single vehicle
which had struck a utility support pole on the north side of Worley
Street just east of Providence Road. The lone occupant of the vehicle, a
female driver, was able to self extricate upon the arrival of the Fire
Department.
The driver was not injured and refused medical treatment. The vehicle
suffered moderate damage to the front end and the utility support pole
was also moderately damaged.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by a local towing company.
Crews from Columbia Water and Light were attempting to locate the cause
of the power outage and correct it.
