GetAbout Columbia declares September ‘Way To Go To Work’
month		
						
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - September is the perfect time to make a bike
ride or walk part of your daily commute to work. GetAbout Columbia wants
to help the community do just that with the “Way To Go To Work”
program. Choosing to walk or bike to work, even just part of the way,
can make people feel happier, healthier and more productive-inside and
outside the office. 
	The month is full of activities to encourage participation,
including brown bag lunch seminars and guided on-road bike rides and
walks. 
	Brown bag lunch seminars will be offered every Wednesday in
September at noon at the GetAbout Columbia office. Participants will
gain active commuting know-how from the experts in a casual open
discussion.
 	Each Friday in September, guided on-road bike rides and walks to
downtown Columbia and the MU campus will start from locations all around
town. Each location offers free parking for those who want to drive a
portion of their journey. Visit www.getaboutcolumbia.com for starting

	Setting personal goals is important. Way To Go! reminder cards
are available for download at getaboutcolumbia.com. Whether it’s two
or 20 commutes, participants can set their own “Way To Go To Work”
goal and use a Way To Go! card to help reach it. When the goal is
completed, cards can be redeemed for a free canvas bag, a pedometer or a
bike light at the GetAbout Columbia office. Way To Go! reminder cards
also serve as registration for a grand prize drawing that will take
place on Oct. 21. All Way To Go! reminder cards must be dropped off or
mailed by Oct. 17 to qualify.

	“Way To Go To Work” month is a part of GetAbout Columbia,
which is a communitywide program designed to encourage active modes of
transportation-travel other than in cars. Funding for GetAbout Columbia
is provided by the Federal Highway Administration’s Non-Motorized
Transportation Pilot Program.
