Intersection evaluations to provide data for city’s red light camera
project
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Public Works announces that as part of the
city's red light camera project, LaserCraft Inc. will evaluate several
street intersections from Feb. 18-29 (weather permitting). The
intersections are: Stadium & Rollins; Stadium & Broadway; Stadium &
Worley; Providence & AC; Providence & Broadway; Old 63 & Stadium; Route
B & the US 63 ramp signals.
No red light cameras will be installed at this time, but over the next
two weeks, citizens will notice equipment, vehicles and people at
intersections throughout the city.
On Aug. 22, 2006, the City Council passed an ordinance that provided
for enforcement of red light violations and authorized the city manager
to initiate a red light camera request for proposal (RFP) process for
installing, operating and administering a red light camera enforcement
system. In August 2007, the city entered into an agreement with Laser
Craft Inc. of Norcross, Ga., for the installation of red light cameras
at priority intersections.
If you have questions about the project, please contact the Public
Works Department at (573) 874-7250.
