Community Action Meeting scheduled for March 4
(COLUMBIA, MO) The “LET’S TALK, COLUMBIA!” Community
Summit held Feb. 22-23 was deemed a success thanks to the more than 100
attendees on Friday and the more than 70 attendees on Saturday.
“Teen and adult participants connected through meaningful
dialogue, and came up with individual and community action steps to make
Columbia a better place for our youth,” said Human Rights Educator
Nanette Ward.
The public is now invited to a follow-up Community Action
Meeting on Tuesday, March 4, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Days Inn Banquet
Room, 1900 I-70 Drive SW. Refreshments will be provided.
Teens are strongly urged to attend so their voices can continue
to be an integral part of the process. Adults of all ages are welcome.
Find out about the Community Summit and the ideas that were generated,
learn about America’s Five Promises for Columbia, engage with fellow
citizens and community leaders, hear the voices of the teens, add your
voice and ideas on how you can make a difference and be part of
finalizing a plan that will be presented to city officials
This free event is a collaboration of the Columbia Human Rights
Commission, Youth Community Coalition, KRCG 13, Columbia Missourian and
other local groups and volunteers. Various organizations will present a
resource fair for parents and teens and for attendees to learn about
youth-related volunteer opportunities.
