City Builds On The Past To Serve The Future: Utility Customer Services
and Treasury Management moving to renovated lobby of Daniel Boone
Building
COLUMBIA, MO (January 8, 2008) - On Monday, Jan. 14, the city’s
utility customer billing and service, cash collection and business
license operations will be located in the newly renovated first floor
lobby of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway. The renovation
includes a new utility payment drop box and canopied drive-through
facility on the north side of Daniel Boone Building.
Customer service and cashiering operations at the new location will
continue to be open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The
drive-through will be staffed 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
After Jan. 11, services will no longer be available at the current
customer service location at 8th Street and Broadway.
City Department of Finance Director Lori Fleming advises that moving
preparations on Jan. 11 may cause slight delays in service or telephone
disruptions at the current location. “We are doing everything possible
to keep things running smoothly, but we do ask for and appreciate the
public’s patience during the transition,” says Fleming.
Fleming suggests that this may be a perfect time for utility customers
to try the city’s alternative payment options. Online bill payment is
available on the city’s Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com. Customers
also can pay utility bills by using the city’s automated telephone
payment system at (573) 874-7694.
An open house to celebrate completion of this first phase of the City
Hall Renovation and Expansion is being planned for Thursday, March 6,
2008, 5-7p.m.
City Hall Renovation and Expansion Phase II, scheduled to begin this
summer, includes construction of a five-story addition east of the
Daniel Boone Building. Phase II, which is expected to be completed in
late 2009, will be followed by Phase III. The third and final phase,
which includes renovation of the rest of the Daniel Boone Building,
should be finished by the end of 2010.
The entire City Hall Renovation and Expansion project, which will be
completed without raising taxes, will allow the city to consolidate
operations, improve communications and efficiency of services and
minimize the need for leased office space.
For further information on the City Hall project, please contact Tony
St. Romaine, assistant city manager, at (573) 874-7721 or visit the
city’s Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com.
