Community Voices: Health Care What We Have and What We Want

COLUMBIA, MO (July 16, 2008) - The City of Columbia Human Rights
Commission invites the public to participate in a timely topic on a
critical issue:

"HEALTH CARE - What We Have and What We Want" 
Monday, July 21, 2008
6:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. 
Columbia Public Library Friends Rm. 
100 W. Broadway, Columbia, MO

Through dialogue with fellow citizen from diverse experiences,
perspectives and organizations, we can understand better what issues and
challenges people are facing today, learn about and consider possible
solutions, connect with others working for improved health care, and,
ultimately, be more effective in however we choose to be informed and
involved in dealing with the complexities of health care. 

Sponsors include the City of Columbia Human Rights Commission, Missouri
Jobs with Justice, Missouri Association for Social Welfare, Missouri
Rural Crisis Center, Missouri Budget Project, Missouri Health Care for
All, and Services for Independent Living. Refreshments will be served. 

To continue local public discourse on health, a special screening of
7-part documentary "Unnatural Causes...is inequity making us sick" will
be held on September 3, 24 and October 8 and 24, 6 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. at
the Columbia/Boone County Dept. of Health, 1005 W. Worley. This is a
seven-part documentary series exploring racial and socioeconomic
inequalities in health. Sponsored by the City of Columbia Human Rights
Commission, Columbia/Boone County Dept. of Health.
