Douglass Bulldogs Baseball registration ongoing
COLUMBIA, MO (March 13, 2008) - It’s time to sign up for summer
baseball! The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department and Douglass
Athletic Association are accepting registrations for Douglass Bulldogs
baseball. The Douglass baseball program is an instructional league for
both boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 10. The league is
non-competitive; having fun and learning to play baseball are the
program’s main goals.
The league starts June 9 and runs through July 18. Games will be played
on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings with some possible
Friday evening games at Douglass Park (Providence and Rogers streets).
Games will start at 5:30 p.m. or later.
Players ages 5 and 6 will play tee ball, players ages 7 and 8 play
coach pitch, and players ages 9 and 10 play kid pitch. Efforts will be
made to allow teammate requests.
Registration is $20 per child; the fee includes a league shirt and hat.
Registrations postmarked after April 5 will be charged $25 per child.
Registration forms can be picked up at the Columbia Parks and Recreation
office at #1 S. 7th Street, the Armory Sports Center at 701 East Ash and
the ARC at 1701 West Ash or online at
http://www.gocolumbiamo.com/ParksandRec/.
Volunteers are needed as coaches and umpires. Training clinics will be
held for volunteers. To volunteer, contact Camren Cross at 874-6378.
For more information, please call 874-7460 or 874-6378.
