Columbia Transit offers Try Transit Day
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Gas prices got you down? Haven’t tried
Columbia Transit? If you are new to transit service, consider trying
transit for just one day. Columbia Transit is hosting a free “Try
Transit” Thursday on May 8, all day long, anywhere Columbia Transit
goes. Save gas, avoid parking hassles, reduce traffic congestion and
improve the environment.
Columbia Transit buses and Paratransit vans are equipped with
either a wheelchair lift or ramp and buses "kneel" to lower the first
boarding step. City buses are also equipped with bicycle racks to let
you combine bicycling and transit.
"The spike in gas prices is causing many people to look for ways
to beat the high cost” said Ken Koopmans, transportation manager for
the city of Columbia. “Trying Columbia Transit is one of the things we
want people to consider when looking for an alternative mode of
transportation”.
Fares for Columbia Transit are very reasonable at just 50 cents
for adults and 25 cents for students, seniors, Medicaid recipients and
certified handicapped. For more transit information or to view the map
and schedules, visit www.GoColumbiaMo.com (search GoBus) or call
573-874-7282.
