Hershey Track and Field Columbia local meet

COLUMBIA, MO (April 13, 2009) - Boys and girls will have the chance to
get an early start in track and field through the annual Hershey Track
and Field Youth Program. 

Columbia Parks and Recreation is planning the program to introduce
youth to different track events. The Hershey meet will be held April 18
at the Rock Bridge High School track. There is no cost to participate,
but youth must pre-register. Youth must be born in the years 1995
through 2000 and must provide proof of age such as a birth certificate.


Participants will be asked to check in that day at 9 a.m. and the meet
will start at 10 a.m. Events will include dashes of 50, 100, 200, 400,
800 and 1600 meters; 4x100 meter relay; standing long jump and softball
throw. Local winners will be eligible for the state meet in Jefferson
City and then some regional winners will earn the opportunity to advance
to the finals in Hershey, Pa. 

Registration forms are available online at www.GoColumbiaMo.com, at the
Parks and Recreation office at #1 S. 7th St., the Armory Sports Center
at 701 East Ash and the ARC at 1701 West Ash. Completed forms can be
faxed to the Armory at 874-7538.
