Intersection of Maryland and Rollins
closed

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Water and Light will be upgrading a
water line that is located at the intersection of Maryland Avenue and
Rollins Street on Tuesday, Aug. 4, and Wednesday, Aug. 5, weather
permitting. Motorists will be detoured around the intersection while the
work is being completed. The project is being funded by a 2008 voter
approved bond issue.
The existing water line is being upgraded to an eight inch line
to provide more water for fire fighting and increase the reliability of
water service. Customers will be individually notified of any temporary
disruptions in their water service while the work is being completed.
After the new main is placed in service, the water lines will be
flushed. Customers in this area might notice a slight discoloration in
their water. Customers that experience this problem should let the water
run for a few minutes until the discoloration disappears. The water will
continue to be safe to drink.
