Intersection improvements at Stewart and Providence
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department
announces that intersection improvements on the first GetAbout Columbia
project will begin this week. These intersection improvements are funded
by the $22 million Federal Highway Administration Non Motorized
Transportation Pilot Program.
On Thursday, Jan. 8, at 7 a.m., J.C. Industries of Jefferson
City will begin intersection improvements at the intersection of Stewart
Road and Providence Road. The first portion of this project will result
in a temporary closure of Stewart Road on the east side of Providence
through Jan. 15, weather permitting. Motorists and pedestrians are urged
to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an
alternate route whenever possible.
This overall intersection improvement project on Stewart and
Providence Road will be ongoing throughout the spring and expected to be
done in mid-May. Other GetAbout Columbia intersection improvements to
follow in the next few months include Providence/Stadium and
Stadium/Forum.
