Damage reports requested by the Office of Emergency Management
COLUMBIA, MO (June 19, 2009) - The Columbia/Boone County Office of
Emergency Management (OEM) is preparing preliminary damage assessments
for both public assistance and individual assistance for damages related
to this week’s heavy rain, flooding and severe thunderstorms. Those
assessments will be sent to the State Emergency Management Disaster
Agency (SEMA), which will determine what, if any, damage recovery
assistance will come from the state.
“While early indications show this week’s stormy weather has not
caused a great deal of damage, we would still like to inform SEMA of
what we have experienced,” says Interim OEM Director Zim Schwartze.
“Persons who may have experienced a certain amount of non-insured
property or business losses are encouraged to contact our office, so
they may be included in our county-wide damage assessments. It’s very
important that we receive as much information as possible from the
public on the extent of damages to their homes, businesses, and
property.”
To report business or private property losses from the week beginning
June 14, contact the Office of Emergency Management at (573) 874-7400.
