Blue Thunder track athlete wins national championship

COLUMBIA, MO (February 26, 2009) - Chas Barbee, an athlete in Columbia
Parks and Recreation's Blue Thunder Track Club, recently won the
club’s first national level championship. 

Chas won gold in the Intermediate (15-16 year-old) Boys 400 meter dash
at the AAU Northern Indoor National Track and Field Championships. Chas
ran the race in 56.13 seconds. 

The championships took place in Merrilville, Ind., from Feb. 20-22.

Chas is a student at Columbia Catholic and is the son of Sam & Monica
Barbee of Columbia.
