COLUMBIA, MO (May 21, 2009) -
Central Missouri Community Action
400 Wilkes Boulevard
Columbia, Missouri
Monday, June 1
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
To help low-income Columbia residents save energy and money, Columbia
Water and Light is offering the Air Conditioner Exchange program again
this year for low-income customers. The purpose of this program is to
replace inefficient window units with new energy efficient window units.
The Central Missouri Community Action is partnering with the utility and
will screen the applicants and help distribute the units.
Below are the eligibility requirements for the Air Conditioner Exchange
program:
You must be a current city of Columbia utility customer
You must have an older, less efficient/broken window unit to exchange
You have an annual income of less than 200 percent of the poverty level
These groups of people are the first priority for the exchange
program:
1. 65 years of age or older
2. Receive income for a disability
3. Have children age 5 or younger living in your household
Please note that there are a limited number of units to exchange. If a
person is unable to bring in the older unit to exchange for a new unit,
they should contact the CMCA-Boone County Family Resource Center at
(573) 443-8731.
