Early Morning Fire Damages Central Columbia Home
Columbia, Mo– Fire companies from the Columbia Fire Department
responded to a structure fire at 1306 West Worley Streetat 1:46 amon
Friday, November 13, 2009.
Responding fire crews arrived at the home in less then two (2) minutes
to find light smoke coming from the home. Fire fighters were able to
knock the fire down in less then five minutes. Fire damage was contained
to the basement however some smoke damage occurred throughout the home.
The home was occupied by five people at the time of the fire and all
escaped safely along with two dogs. One occupant of the home walked one
block to Fire Station No. 2 where they reported the fire to fire
fighters.
Fire investigators are on the scene working to determine the origin and
cause of the fire. There is no damage estimate and the role of smoke
alarms is unknown at this phase of the investigation.
A follow-up press release will be issued after 8 amthis morning after
fire investigators have had adequate time to examine the scene and
gather information.
