Health Department to Host Walk-In H1N1 Clinic for Young Children

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human
Services will host its first walk-in clinic for H1N1 vaccinations. See
details below:
· WHO: Clinic is open to children six (6) months thru four (4)
years of age ONLY
· WHAT: The health department will offer a limited supply of
injectable vaccine and FluMist. We have NO preservative-free injectable
vaccine. Missouri was one of just a few states with a law concerning
mercury-containing vaccine for children under age 3. As a result of the
DHSS decision last week to suspend the restriction on mercury-containing
vaccine being given to children under age 3, we will have vaccine
available for all kids age six (6) months thru four (4) years of age.
Children age 2-4 with no chronic medical conditions will receive
FluMist, not the injectable version of the vaccine.
· WHEN: Wednesday, October 28th from 1-5 pm
· WHERE: Health Department, 1005 West Worley in Columbia
Supplies are limited. Parents do not need to make an appointment.
Consent forms can be completed prior to the clinic by visiting
www.GoColumbiaMO.com ( http://www.gocolumbiamo.com/ )and following
links to the health department’s flu page.
Some pediatricians and family medicine physicians in Boone County have
agreed to offer the H1N1 vaccine to their patients. Parents are
encouraged to consult their pediatrician for vaccine availability. For
