Parks and Recreation Photo Contest Winners Announced
 
The ColumbiaParksand Recreation Department recently announced the
winners of the department’s first Photo Contest which was held in
celebration of the Department's 60th anniversary. 
 
Winners were honored at the Parks and Recreation Commission’s meeting
on April 15:  
 
Grand prize winner: Kelly Smith, Hinkson Creek Trail
 
Category – Parks and Recreation Facilities
First, second and third places: Randy Hughes (photos taken at
StephensLakeand FlatBranchParks)
 
Category – Trails
First place: Lisa Fechter, Bear Creek Trail; Second place: David Rein,
MKT Trail; Third place: Randy Hughes, MKT Trail
 
Category – Rec Programs, Sports, Events and Classes
First place: Colleen McDevitt, Polar Bear Plunge; Second place: Emma
Beary, Easter EGGstravaganza; Third place: Colleen McDevitt, Tony Hawk

Category -  Faces and Activities
First place: Rhiannon Trask, FlatBranchPark; Second place: Lisa
Fechter, Bear Creek Trail; Rhiannon Trask, Cosmo-BethelPark
 
Category -  Landscape, Wildlife and Nature
First, second and third places: Rick Hansen (photos taken at
FairviewParkand Forum Nature Area)
 
Winners received gift certificates and cash prizes. The grand prize
winner will be displayed in the lobby of the Parks and Recreation
administrative office at #1 South 7th Street.
 
Judging criteria included overall impact, originality/creativity,
technical excellence, artistic merit, and relevance to the contest
theme, “Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs.
Photographs must have been taken at any ColumbiaParksand Recreation
facility, event, sport, program, or class. 
 
The Parks and Recreation Photo Contest was co-sponsored by the City’s
Office of Cultural Affairs, Grindstone Digital Imaging, Creative Photo,
Deck the Walls and the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC).
