Most Notable Properties nominations sought 
        
(COLUMBIA, MO) – Columbia’s Historic Preservation Commission is taking nominations for the city’s Most Notable Properties 2011. The deadline for submission is Oct. 1.
To be eligible, properties must be at least 50 years old, located within the city of Columbia corporate limits and have architectural or historical characteristics which contribute to the city’s social and/or aesthetic resources. The properties may be endangered, derelict, recently restored or nicely maintained. They may be a private home, public or private workplace or any other space, public or private. They may be modest or grand, hidden away or in public view. The Historic Preservation Commission will evaluate the nominations and select a diverse set of properties that best represent the above qualities.
Submission materials can be downloaded from the City’s website at www.GoColumbiaMo.com/Planning/Commissions/HPC/index.php or by calling the Department of Planning and Development at (573) 874-7239. 
Applicants are encouraged to provide supporting information about the structure or location such as newspaper articles, historic photos, written histories of individuals who built, owned and/or lived in the structure and other relevant information. Non-returnable materials may be submitted either by mail or in person to: City of Columbia Planning and Development Department, Attention: Historic Preservation Commission, 701 E. Broadway, P.O. Box 6015, Columbia, MO  65205-6015.
