Water boil order lifted for Thornbrook and Millcreek Manor
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Two consecutive days of laboratory tests
confirm that the water for customers living in the Thornbrook and
Millcreek Manor subdivisions is safe to drink. Columbia Water and Light
had issued the precautionary boil order after a 16-inch water main
serving the two subdivisions broke on Thursday, Jan. 7, in the late
evening hours. The main break caused the water pressure to drop
substantially, which could cause contamination. According to standards
set by the Department of Natural Resources, Columbia Water & Light
issued a precautionary water boil order.
The samples from the repaired water line that Columbia Water &
Light collected required an incubation period of 24 hours before they
could be analyzed. Both sets of samples showed no bacterial
contamination. Along with alerting the media, customers are being
notified by an automatic phone system. Hang tags will be left on doors
this afternoon.
