Energy-efficient window air conditioner exchange
Central Missouri Community Action
610 Vandiver, Columbia, Missouri
Friday, June 4, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
(COLUMBIA, MO) -- To help low-income Columbia residents save energy and
money, Columbia Water and Light is offering the Air Conditioner Exchange
program again this year for low-income customers. The purpose of this
program is to replace inefficient window units with new energy-efficient
window units. The Central Missouri Community Action is partnering with
the utility and will be screening the applicants and helping distribute
the units. The eligibility requirements for the Air Conditioner Exchange
program are:
You must be a current city of Columbia utility customer.
You must have an older, less efficient/broken window unit to exchange.
You have an annual income of less than 200 percent of the poverty
level.
These groups of people are first priority for the exchange program:
1. 65 years of age or older
2. Receive income for a disability
3. Have children age 5 or younger living in your household
Boone Electric Cooperative also has a limited amount of window air
conditioners for customers who qualify according to the requirements
listed above.
Please note that there are a limited number of units to exchange. Those
unable to bring in the older unit to exchange for a new unit should
contact the CMCA-Boone County Family Resource Center at (573) 443-8731.
