Phone and Internet service outage in six city buildings
COLUMBIA, MO (May 21, 2010) - Construction in the historic Daniel Boone
Building has disrupted fiber communication networks in six buildings.
While the service outage does not affect Joint Communications’ ability
to receive or dispatch emergency 9-1-1 calls, communications have been
disrupted as follows.
Buildings with phone service, but no Internet or e-mail:
• Police, Joint Communications, Office of Emergency Management
• Gentry Building (Parks & Recreation Administration, Office of
Cultural Affairs)
• Howard Building (Human Resources, Prosecutor’s Office, Municipal
Court)
Buildings without phone, Internet or e-mail service:
• Armory
• Fire Administration
• Wabash Station
Public Works has implemented a contingency plan for Para-Transit
customers. During the outage, customers who need Para-Transit services
should call (573) 424-1791.
The City’s website www.GoColumbiaMo.com and online services such as
bill paying and event registration are functional. Some features, such
as the real time 9-1-1 dispatch report are currently unavailable.
Crews are working to restore service and assess how long repairs will
take. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
For more information, please contact Renee Graham at (573) 874-7316.
