City to welcome Senator Bond today

COLUMBIA, MO (October 18, 2010) - City officials are looking forward to Senator Christopher S. “Kit” Bond’s visit today. Sen. Bond’s office said earlier that he will hold a news conference to announce the availability of federal funds for the extension of Highway 740.

According to City Manager Bill Watkins, the complex road project has been in the city’s capital improvement program for years. “Each injection of new resources pushes the project further along,” Watkins said, “and Sen. Bond has been an extremely interested and effective partner for the community.”

The news conference is set for 2:30 p.m. in conference room 1A, City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.

City Council members will officially recognize Sen. Bond’s achievements during the first few minutes of their regular meeting tonight, starting at 7 p.m. in the City Council chamber at City Hall.
