Region F Public Health Exercise Scheduled for 4-28-11

The thirteen local public health agencies in Region F will participate in a full-scale exercise on Thursday, April 28th at the Cooper County Fairgrounds in Boonville. Exercise play will begin at 10:30 am and conclude by 12:30 pm. While the media is invited for the entire two hours, the most action, and the best opportunities for photos and footage, will occur in the 10:30-11:30 am hour. Equipment demobilization will begin at 11:30 am.

 

The exercise scenario involves an F4 tornado hitting Cooper County and the need for public health to provide mass tetanus vaccinations for residents and emergency responders. The Cooper County Public Health Center will call for assistance from other Region F health departments and utilize Region F assets (public health trailer and supplies). The exercise will test Region F redundant communications, the set-up and tear-down of Region F mass vaccination equipment, the ordering of state assets through an online ordering system and the activation of volunteers.

 

Directions to the Cooper County Fairgrounds:

 

>From the East-

>From westbound I-70, pass all three Boonville exits. Take the Pilot Grove- Arrowrock exit (#98). Turn RIGHT at overpass. Make an immediate RIGHT on Sportsman RD/Old Hwy 40. Travel east beside the interstate about 1 to 1 ½ miles. Turn RIGHT onto Dunkles Road. Cross overpass and make a left turn into fairgrounds, located at 16899 Dunkles Road.

 

>From the South-

>From Hwy 179/87 or B Hwy or Hwy 5, go WEST on I-70. Take the Pilot Grove- Arrowrock exit (#98). Turn RIGHT at overpass. Make an immediate RIGHT on Sportsman RD/Old Hwy 40. Travel east beside the interstate about 1 to 1 ½ miles. Turn RIGHT onto Dunkles Road. Cross overpass and make a left turn into fairgrounds, located at 16899 Dunkles Road.
