Columbia Transit receives state award

COLUMBIA, MO (August 3, 2011) - Columbia Transit received an Award of Excellence this week at the Federal Transit Administration Region 7 annual meeting held at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Federal Transit Administration, in conjunction with the Missouri Public Transit Association, presented Columbia Transit with the award for the largest percent increase in ridership among urban transit providers throughout the state of Missouri.

The city of Columbia was recognized for achieving a 5.5 percent increase in ridership from 2009 to 2010. Since 2007, Columbia Transit has received honors for the highest percentage increase statewide. The award was presented by Mokhtee Ahmad, Region 7 administrator for the Federal Transit Administration.
