City offices and services to resume Thursday

COLUMBIA, MO (February 2, 2011) - City Manager Bill Watkins has notified departments that all city facilities and services will resume somewhat normal services Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011.  "We realize some staff may have difficulty getting to work, but we believe enough staff is available to get offices up and running," explained Watkins. "We might have skeleton shifts in some areas, so we appreciate our customers' patience should they experience slight delays in service" said Wakins,

Schedules for Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011

*Columbia Transit and ParaTransit will run on the Emergency Weather Schedule - however, buses will be running slower than normal due to road conditions

*Solid Waste residential trash or recycling is canceled for Thursday - Public Works will evaluate conditions on Thursday before making a decision about trash service on Friday, Feb. 4.

*Solid waste commercial trash routes will run in areas that are accessible to trucks on Thursday and the landill will be open

The following City departments will be open as usual, unless otherwise noted:

*City Hall

           City Manager's Office

           City Clerk

           Finance - including Business License, Utility Account Billing, Cashier and Customer Service

            Information Technology

            Law

            Planning Department

            Public Works

            Public Communications

*Fire Administration and Operations 

*Gentry Building

           Office of Cultural Affairs

           Parks and Recreation Administration

                ARC, 1701 W. Ash will open at 9 a.m.

                Armory Sports Center will open at 9 a.m.

*Howard Municipal Building

          Human Resources - open with limited staff

          Employee Health - open with limited staff

          Municipal Court - court scheduled to be in session, but please call 874-7232 after 8 a.m.

*Office of Neighborhood Services open with limited staff  

          Note: Feb. 1 rental renewal deadline has been extended to 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4

*Public Health and Human Services   

         Open at 10 a.m., Thursday - some services may be unavailable due to staff shortages

*Regional Economic Development

*Walton Building

          Convention and Visitors Bureau

*Water and Light 

          Administration

          Engineering
