Adolescent Health Needs Assessment Findings to be Shared
Health Department will Lead Efforts to Address Issues Identified by Columbia Teens
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services will release the findings of a city/county Adolescent Health Needs Assessment to community stakeholders on Tuesday, March 1st at 4:30 p.m. at the Health Department's Community Training Room, located at 1005 West Worley. Adolescent and provider survey results, focus group findings and evidence-based strategies the community can explore to address adolescent health will be shared.
The Health Department has a long history of working with adolescents in preventing teen pregnancy and STD's, as well as working with community organizations to reduce other risk behaviors that originate during adolescence such as tobacco, alcohol and drug use, lack of physical activity and poor eating habits. Adolescent health is an important component of public health as teen health behaviors have long-term implications on future health outcomes and health care costs.
Health department staff will be available for interviews after the event.
