Public Health and Human Services Will Be Closed to the Public
Department will close Tuesday and Wednesday
 
To ensure the safety of staff and customers, the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services will be closed on Tuesday (2-1-11) and Wednesday (2-2-11). There will be no Tuesday night STD clinic. WIC services and vital records (birth and death certificates) will not be available.
 The department urges residents to refrain from travel if possible and to prepare their homes with necessary supplies: food, water, medicine and other essential items. 
Check on family, friends and neighbors that could be at high risk of cold-related injury or illness including the elderly, those that are fighting an illness and people who do not have access to adequate heat. Warming centers and shelters are available throughout the community. Anyone seeking relief from the cold should call 2-1-1 for the most up-to-date information. 
Provide proper shelter for pets and provide fresh water and food supplies on a regular basis.
