Clark Lane reconstruction begins

COLUMBIA, MO (May 18, 2011) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department announces that beginning Monday, May 23, Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. will begin work on the Clark Lane reconstruction project, from Ballenger Lane to west of St. Charles Road. The project will consist of constructing new concrete street pavement with two divided lanes, bike lanes and both concrete and grass center medians. An 8-foot concrete sidewalk will be constructed on the south side and a 5-foot sidewalk will be constructed on the north side.

Project cost is $7.3 million funded by capital improvement sales tax, capital fund balance, transportation sales tax, county revenue sharing and development charges. The work is expected to be completed by late fall, weather permitting. 

Clark Lane will remain open to thru traffic during construction. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use extreme caution when entering the work zone. It is recommended to us an alternate route when possible.
