Dye testing on city sewer system

COLUMBIA, MO (November 11, 2011) - The City ofColumbia Public Works Department announces that Trekk Design Group will be performing dye water flooding test on storm boxes throughout the city beginning on Tuesday, November 15.  The testing will continue through Thursday, November 17, weather permitting.

The dye used in this test is harmless; however, we want to notify residents in case they are alarmed about the colored water.  This will be a large scale flooding effort and the dyes will most likely show up in the open channel downstream of the pipes crews are flooding.  Any one of the storm boxes and coordinating channels may at any time during the testing have red or green dye in them.  Dye flooding is a tool to use to find direct or indirect connections between our storm sewer system and sanitary sewer system.
