Community Foundation surpasses $2 million in assets

COLUMBIA, MO (December 10, 2012) - Recent gifts and established funds under the Community Foundation of Central Missouri have enabled the Foundation to surpass $2 million in assets. The mission of the Foundation is to improve lives in central Missouri, mainly by matching donors to causes that they care about the most.   

After being announced in November 2010, the Community Foundation of Central Missouri achieved $1 million in assets within 16 months. The latest achievement of $2 million was accomplished in less than 10 months. 

Rather than the traditional foundation model of one main fund and a board of directors deciding where and when to provide grants, the Community Foundation of Central Missouri has numerous funds, donated by various donors. Many of these funds allow the donor to continue to have advisory powers over the distribution of their gifts.

The Community Foundation works with a wide variety of donors—individuals, groups, companies, nonprofit organizations and more. The Community Foundation of Central Missouri specializes in donor-advised funds, field of interest funds, designated funds, scholarship funds, and its unrestricted fund.
