Winter Weather Impacting Columbia and Boone County

COLUMBIA, MO (February 13, 2012) - As snow falls across mid-Missouri this morning, the Columbia/Boone County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) asks residents to make sure they are prepared. 

"With two to four inches of snow predicted for the area we expect travel conditions to be less than ideal for the next 24 to 36 hours," says OEM Director Zim Schwartze. "Motorists should be ready for slick roads, take things a little slower, and be aware of other drivers.  Of course if you don't have to go out we would recommend staying at home, while local and state crews work to clear streets and highways." 

Schwartze also advises residents to tune to local media for the latest weather information.  For winter weather preparation information, as well as links to information about the latest road conditions, visit the OEM website at www.gocolumbiamo.com/EM.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through Midnight tonight.  Forecasts call for roughly two to four inches of snow in Boone County.
