Six computers remain for giveaway in ninth annual Homes for Computers Program

COLUMBIA, MO (February 20, 2012) - The City of Columbia, the Voluntary Action Center (VAC) and the Downtown Optimist Club have extended the application period for free computers in their Homes for Computers Program. Thirty computers will be given away. Six remain available. 

Applications will be accepted until all 30 computers are given away. Applications are available at the VAC office, 403A Vandiver, and must be completed and turned in to the VAC office by Thursday, Feb. 23. If there are more applications received than computers available, a drawing will be held at the VAC office. Eligible families must be residents of the city of Columbia, have at least one child in grades K-12 and must not have a computer in the home. Questions regarding the application process should be directed to the Voluntary Action Center at (573) 874-2273.

Winning clients will be notified by close of the day Feb. 23. Computers will be distributed to the winning clients by the Downtown Optimist Club on Saturday, Feb. 25, 9 a.m. - noon at the Optimist building, 1201 Grand Ave.
