Snow Predicted for Boone County
COLUMBIA, MO (January 11, 2012) - With predicted wintry weather moving toward mid-Missouri, the Columbia/ Boone County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) reminds residents to be cautious and prepared.
"We're keeping an eye on precipitation moving into Missouri tonight, which is expected to move into Columbia and Boone County during the overnight hours," says OEM Director Zim Schwartze. "The timing of the predicted snowfall will likely make the Thursday morning commute dangerous. If you must travel, take things a little slower, be ready for slick roads, and be aware of other drivers. If you're at home, make sure you have food, water and ample supplies."
Schwartze also reminds everyone to stay tuned to local media and NOAA Weather Radio for the latest weather information. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 6:00 Thursday evening, January 12th. Forecasts call for roughly two to three inches of snow in Boone County.
