Construction on William Street and Bass Avenue

COLUMBIA, MO (July 27, 2012) - Columbia Public Works announces that J.C. Industries, a contractor for Boone Hospital Center, will begin pavement replacement and storm water improvements on William Street atBass Avenuebeginning Tuesday, July 31. 

The work will be completed in five phases and involve lane closures and restrictions as well as one-way traffic controls on William Street. 

*Phase 1 - Closure of the west side of the roundabout at William Street and Bass Avenuefor a period of three weeks. During this phase, William Street from just south of Broadway to Anthony will be restricted to one-way southbound. The William Street and Bass Avenue entrances and exits to Boone Hospital's parking garage will be accessible as will the main entrance to Boone Hospital Center.

*Phase 2 - Closure of the southeast side of the roundabout at William Street and Bass Avenuefor a period of one week. William Street will remain one-way for southbound traffic. The main entrance for Boone Hospital Center will remain accessible.

*Phase 3 - Closure of the northeast side of the roundabout at William Street and Bass Avenue for a period of one week. William Street will remain one-way for southbound traffic. The main entrance for Boone Hospital Center will remain accessible. 

*Phase 4 - Closure of the northbound lane of William Street just north ofAnthony Streetat the entrance to the surface parking lot of Boone Hospital Center for a period of one week. William Street will remain one-way for southbound traffic from Bass Avenue to Anthony Street.

*Phase 5 - Closure of the southbound lane of William Street just north of Anthony Street at the entrance to the surface parking lot of Boone Hospital Center for a period of three days. William Street will be one-way for northbound traffic from Anthony Street to Bass Avenue. 

Motorist are urged to use caution in the construction areas and find alternative routes when possible and allow extra time for construction-related traffic issues. 

The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of September. All construction time frames are weather dependent.
