Neighborhood Congress will be held Saturday
COLUMBIA, MO (March 12, 2012) - The public is invited to a Neighborhood Congress event Saturday, March 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in conference rooms 1A and 1B of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. The event is sponsored by the City of Columbia's Department of Community Development.
The purpose of the Neighborhood Congress is to foster greater communication between residents and the city. The congress also allows for networking among community leaders. The event is free and open to the public; no reservation is required. Free parking is available in the plaza parking garage directly north of City Hall.
Light refreshments will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and attendees will have the opportunity to mingle and network prior to the start of the formal event. Welcome and introductions will begin at 9 a.m. Attendees will hear from City Manager Mike Matthes and Tim Teddy, director of the Community Development Department.
The first concurrent sessions will begin at 9:30 a.m.—attendees will be able to choose between a presentation on Growth Management and Columbia Imagined or an informational session on the City of Columbia's Neighborhood Response Team. The second group of concurrent sessions will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a choice between Planning and Development Issues or Successful Neighborhood Stories. Final discussion and closing will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the event ending by noon.
