Hitt Street partially closed for electric system project

COLUMBIA, MO (March 27, 2012) - The north bound lane of Hitt Street between Cherry Street and Broadway will be closed during the day this week for an electric system upgrade project. The work is expected to take place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from Wednesday, March 28 through Friday, March 30, weather permitting. Northbound traffic will be detoured around the block using Cherry and Tenth streets. The sidewalk on the east side of Hitt Street will also be closed although access to the buildings will remain open.

Columbia Water & Light is upgrading a circuit to better serve the electric load in the area. The job requires that new electric lines and conduit be placed under Hitt Street from Broadway to the alley. Customers will be individually notified if there are any electric service interruptions during this project.
