Intersection improvements at Providence and Business Loop begin
COLUMBIA, MO (May 29, 2012) - The City of Columbia Public Works Department announces that intersection improvements at Providence and Business Loop began this week. These intersection improvements are funded by GetAbout Columbia, a $22 million Federal Highway Administration Non Motorized Transportation Pilot Program.
The contractor for this project is Aplex Inc. Crews began today with utility relocation on Providence from Wilkes to Business Loop. The Missouri Department of Transportation will reconstruct sidewalk on Providence from Rogers-Worley to Business Loop 70 as part of the project.
Construction will be ongoing throughout the summer. Drivers and pedestrians should expect some lane and sidewalk closures in the area until the project is completed. Cost of the Providence and Business Loop intersection improvements is $565,000. The project is expected to be completed by this fall.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible. For more information on this project and other GetAbout Columbia infrastructure updates, check out the website at GetAboutColumbia.com under infrastructure updates.
