Linemen return home after power restoration efforts

COLUMBIA, MO (November 14, 2012) - Sixteen days ago, Columbia Water & Light linemen left to help restore power in Ohio and New Jersey after superstorm Sandy. After battling through inclement weather and working 16 hour days to help people in need, the linemen should return home around 7:00 this evening. Twelve linemen volunteered to join restoration efforts on Monday, October 29 and another lineman joined them a week later. While working for First Energy the men helped thousands of customers have electric service again.  Several residents that benefited from the crew's assistance in Cleveland, Ohio,Green Pond and Rockaway, New Jersey sent notes to Columbia Water & Light expressing their gratitude. 

 

The Missouri Public Utility Alliance in Columbia coordinated the assistance project through a mutual aid program to help utilities during wide-spread outages. Columbia Water & Light pays the salaries of the linemen and then will be reimbursed by First Energy.
