Public Health and Human Services to Host World AIDS Day Event
COLUMBIA, MO (November 29, 2012) - The public is invited to attend A Boy, A Girl, and A Virus, featuring Shawn, a hemophiliac who contracted HIV after receiving HIV positive blood in a blood transfusion at age seven and Gwenn, an HIV activist. Shawn and Gwenn fell in love and use their relationship as a platform to address the issues of safer sex, intimacy, communication between partners and the medical realities of HIV in a relaxed and funny manner.
When: Monday, December 3, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Monsanto Auditorium at the Bond Life Science Center on the MU campus
A reception will follow in the atrium, where World AIDS Day quilt panels will be displayed. The panels represent many Missourians who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. In addition, Bond Life Science Center researchers will display HIV research posters.
Sponsors include Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services and the Youth Advisory Committee, with assistance from Rain, University of Missouri Bond Life Science Center and MU Masters of Public Health Graduate Student Association.
