Remodeled Parkside Drive mulch site reopened

COLUMBIA, MO (October 26, 2012) - The City of Columbia announces that beginning today the Parkside Drive mulch site is reopened for public yard waste material drop-off. Both Parkside Drive and Capen Park mulch sites (off Rock Quarry Road) are for residential use only, in accordance with Code of Ordinance Section 22-158. The sites are open daily from dawn to dusk and accept only leaves, grass clippings, brush and limbs up to 10 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter.

The landfill's compost facility at 5700 Peabody Road is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and accepts materials from both residential and commercial sources. The tipping fee at the landfill compost facility is $19/ton for material requiring the grinder or free for leaves and grass.

The Parkside Drive mulch site remodel project includes stormwater management and surface improvements and fencing. Finishing touches are underway by Plan B Development, the contractor from Mexico, Mo. The $77,982 contract was paid for with fiscal year 2012 capital improvement project funds.
