City announces resignation of IT director

COLUMBIA, MO (September 27, 2012) - Deputy City Manager Tony St. Romaine announced earlier today the resignation of Information Technology (IT) Director Bob Simms, effective immediately.  
 
Simms joined the city staff July 13, 2000, and supervised a staff of 27 employees.

"Bob came into our organization at a time when stability was sorely needed, and he was able to accomplish many goals and assist in key projects during his tenure," said St. Romaine. Recent projects including installing technology into the new City Hall addition, coordinating all telephone and computer moves and coordinating upgrades to new software systems for the Municipal Court and for human resources, joint communications and other offices.
 
Over the next few days, St. Romaine will establish a plan for interim leadership and begin the process to seek a new director. "Normally, this process takes 3-5 months, but we'll be working on a fast track," St. Romaine said.
