Saturday Science: energy experiments

COLUMBIA, MO (April 4, 2013) - Time:  Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Place:  Water and Light Casteel Building, 1518 Business Loop 70 East, Suite A

(Across the street from the Power Plant)

 

Junior High students will spend their Saturday morning applying science principles while conducting electric and energy efficiency experiments. The hands-on projects will include building a three-way electric switch and a furnace filter project will show how the air flow inside a building can be balanced. The Saturday Science program was started by the Columbia Public Schools and the University of Missouri along with local businesses to encourage students’ interest in science.  Students apply for the program through their junior high school then spend several Saturdays traveling to different locations to learn how science is used in various occupations.
