Workshop Opportunity for Visual and Performing Artists

COLUMBIA, MO (April 8, 2013) - Area visual and performing artists are invited to participate in an upcoming “Business Edge” workshop. Topics to be covered include copyright, bookkeeping, pricing and public art and commission contracts.

The workshop will be held 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Orr Street Studios, 106 Orr Street. The workshop is being presented by Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (VLAA), a statewide arts organization based in St. Louis, in collaboration with Orr Street Studios and the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs.

Presenters include accountant Tami R. Benus; Pete McDevitt, The Blue Note; Diana Moxon, Columbia Art League; Columbia photographer Anastasia Pottinger; Beth Snyder, 1canoe2; sculptor Tom Stauder; former manager of the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs Marie Nau Hunter; and Sue Greenberg, VLAA executive director.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register for the session for the fee of $25 (includes breakfast and lunch); $15 for Orr Street Studio artists; registration at the door is $45.
