Fire Damages Buckingham Smokehouse Barbeque

COLUMBIA, MO (April 29, 2013) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at 3804 Buttonwood Drive, Buckingham's Smokehouse Barbeque on Monday, April 29 at 3:57pm.

Fire crews arrived minutes later at 4:03pm and observed heavy smoke coming from the back of the building in what was later identified as the area housing a smoker.  Employees of the business were attempting to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers.  Columbia Fire Department personnel deployed a pre-connected hose line and extinguished the fire in approximately five minutes.  The fire was contained to the area housing the smoker.  Fire crews spent an additional forty five minutes checking for fire extension.  

Fire investigators were on the scene and as of this e-mail have not determined the cause of the fire.  The area of origin was the restaurant's smoker.

Three fire trucks, one rescue squad and one ladder truck responded to this call.
