Fifth and Walnut parking garage retail space ribbon cutting scheduled for Friday

COLUMBIA, MO (December 4, 2013) - The City of Columbia will host an open house and ribbon cutting Friday, Dec. 6, to celebrate that the 5th and Walnut garage retail spaces are complete and 100 percent occupied. The public is invited for appetizers and drinks in the Callaway Mortage Group (suite 108) and Taj Mahal (suite 110) at 4 p.m. Other occupants of the retail suites will be open for tours. These include REDI, the Small Business Administration office and the Downtown Business Incubator. 

City Manager Mike Matthes will kick off the program at 4:30 p.m. in the Taj Mahal restaurant. Additional speakers include Sustainability Manager Barbara Buffaloe, Callaway Bank Columbia Market President Gary Meyerpeter and Columbia Taj Mahal owner Phillip Gill. The Columbia Chamber of Commerce ambassadors will host a ribbon cutting in both suites after the program. 
 
 Parking is available in the 5th and Walnut garage. Visitors are encouraged to stay downtown afterwards for The District's “Living Windows” celebration from 6-8 p.m.
