Fire Department Hosts Grand Re-Opening of Fire Station 3

COLUMBIA, MO (January 4, 2013) - The Columbia Fire Department will be hosting a 'Grand Re-Opening' of newly remodeled fire station three at 2:00pm, Thursday, January 10 at 1000 Ashland Road. Guests will include Mayor Bob McDavid and University of Missouri Vice Chancellor Jacquelyn Jones.

Station three was constructed in 1966 by the University of Missouri to house the Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute.  The building is owned and maintained by the University of Missouri and is provided at no annual cost to house Columbia Fire Department equipment and personnel.  Building renovations began in November of 2011 and concluded in May of 2012. Trabue, Hansen and Hinshaw designed the new facility. Sircal Contracting provided general contracting services on the project.

Fire station three serves the campus of the University of Missouri as well as local residential areas and portions of Highway 63.
